It’s amazing how a little support is all that is sometimes needed to create transformation. With the help of your donations, many children in Sri Lanka are off to just the start they need for a bright future. Thanks to your generosity, 42 underprivileged children have received much-needed scholarships to aid their education in schools and universities.
New garden project
In another instance, we are bringing Ayurveda and children together in a home-grown project achieving the twin goals of livelihood and supply chain by encouraging and supporting them to start their own herb gardens at home.
This project will access both long-term work and income to the children and their families with the supply of vital natural ingredients to be used in Ayurvedic medicines in the UK.
The first phase of this project is now underway – beginning with the gardens. Some plants will also be grown to provide food for their own families and to earn an additional income as well.
Thanks to the scholarship programme, one of the students who graduated with a degree in agriculture will provide the kids with on-site support in making their efforts successful.
In such a short space of time, these young children and their families have already done an amazing job growing many herbs. Their enthusiasm and commitment to this project is heat-warming.
Dr Deepika and Geoff Sewell, President of AAPUK, have pledged to present a new computer to the student who creates the best garden! Your support means everything to them and is literally transforming their lives.
Dr Deepika and Geoff will be visiting these families during their annual holiday in April to donate shoes, uniforms, school bags, books etc. If you wish to extend your support in the form of vouchers, please contact us for inquiries.

Scholarships for Children in Need
Thanks to your generosity, 42 underprivileged children have received much-needed scholarships to aid their education in schools and universities. The main objective of the scholarship program is to provide financial assistance to students from low income families, especially those who have lost their both parents or a parent, to support their education and training. The intention of the financial support is to improve the students’ prospects of employment, and help improve living standards for them and their families. Support is open to people from all communities and all parts of Sri Lanka.
Most of this support is provided to students completing the Ordinary Level (O-level|) or Advanced Level (A-level) stage of schooling, or for their subsequent university studies. These levels of study often require considerable financial commitments such as extra tuition classes, board and lodging, educational materials and travel.
Houses for two families in need
Most of the poor families live in inadequate housing or no housing at all. This has become one of the biggest problems in Sri Lanka with a significant portion of population still living below the poverty line.
We know that housing changes everything for a family and children living in poverty. Housing can create a lasting Impact for a family for generations. What is important to know is, adequate housing impacts every aspect of life: improving health, advancing education, providing a place for employment, reducing crimes against women and children, strengthening community, and much more.
This is no easy task, but, with your help, we can do just that. Our aim is to assist those who are in need in constructing a sturdy house. We have built two houses for two families who are in need in Sri Lanka. The project was a major success and we believe the project is an example of how we can empower people through the hope of a better future for themselves and the ones they love.
